Okay, so I've had part of the new layout up for quite some time now... but I have not gotten backgrounds figured out yet. I kind of like it with just the white, but I found some others that some people may enjoy.

Vote on your favorite!!!!

I took a peek at the user info and didn't see anything standing out about community advertising, but if this is strictly a no-no then thwack me with something heavy. Am putting this behind a but so if you don't want to see it don't click.

Hello, everyone.

I'm very impressed with the tone and intention of this journal. Hopefully, we can create a mutually symbiotic relationship.

Please go here to learn more about me. This is a new journal I've created with the hopes of creating a legitimate body of research on the subject of parenting and spirituality. The ultimate goal is to publish.

I noticed this journal was created in response to a particular ignorant comment. My concern as a parent is precisely such; many of us pagans subscribe to beliefs that are often subject to misinterpretation at best and outright fear and hostility at worst. I'd like to speak to the need of both the practitioner/adept and those of other faiths that regularly interact with us and our children to have a solid, authoritative and valid text that sincerely and inclusively addresses many of the concerns that face any and all spiritual communities but I need your help.

I have chosen to post this to a few locations but I would be honored and delighted if you would share this site and the questions in my first post with as many people of as many beliefs as possible.

Thank you in advance for your assistance, time, cooperation and consideration.

Okay. So my computer is all screwed up. I will not be able to get on unless I have a chance at school. Which is rarely ever.

Sorry everyone. Sorry especially to Aiobhan, I am sorry I couldn't get the article to you.

I'll check up when I can. Maybe I'll stop at the Library once or twice a week.

Hi all :)

Been really busy lately, so I have not been able to offer much.
I found this guided meditation posted on a group that I am in, thought that someone here might find it useful. Take a look:

Spirit Guide MeditationCollapse )

*suggestion: to do an effective guided meditation, read it aloud and record it to a tape (or computer) and play it back for yourself while meditating. remember to give yourself time to visualize the journey.

My friends and I are planning a ritual for Saturday. It's been something we've been wanting to do for a while and we finally got a weekend we're all free. We bought a whole lot of little white tea light candles to put around the room randomly and in a circle, but I was thinking of maybe making a pentacle with them on the floor. The only problem is, would it be safe to put them right on the floor ( I have both carpeting and hardwood) or would I need to put them on a board or something? What do you all think?

Also, we're going into this with a person who says she's Wiccan but really has no clue what she's doing. I've been trying to help, but I don't think it's working and my friend and I are getting aggravated. Any good tips on getting rid of our negative energy towards her so as not to ruin our whole plan? We really want this to work, at least a little.

Oh wait... one more. Would it be a good idea for everyone to put something personal on the altar, like a pentacle or statue or something or should I just use what I have since I have the altar and this whole thing is going to be at my house? Just wondering if personal items from everyone would make a stronger connection...obviously this is our first time doing this together and it's a little difficult.

Look it's the prodigal son come home! Or daughter, as the case may be. You knwo, a bible referance on a pagan site... I'm not totally sure how that's going to work out. Well, if you don't get it then... go watch Godspell or something. Seriously, it's a really good musical. Okay, how bout I shut up before I get stabbed.

Anyway, the point of the referance was, I've been gone, I know everyone missed me, cause no one knows who the hell I am. Wasn't I like one of the first people on here....?

Anyway, what penance must I pay for my silly lack of commitment?

Okay, since everyone has been harping on me to get another series up, I figured I should probably get my butt amoving.

Here's the idea in Alan Grey Wolve's words:

A Guided Meditation consists of directions for relaxing and visualizing given by an experienced facilitator. The voice is soothing and easily listened to. In the background there is soft, unobtrusive music and natural sounds such as water, the sea, birds, etc..

These are meditations in which you enter the altered state and are provided with the suggestions that create the visualized reality that enables you to accomplish a pre-determined goal. The facilitator first takes you through a relaxation that assists you to reach the altered state. Then he or she suggests a scene or a place which allows you to create your own version,. Then you are guided through the created space and actions that assist you to accomplish your end.

This might be to release stress, find answers or direction, relive a past experience, overcome a fear, or create a desirable situation. Recorded guided meditations such as my own series allow you to do this at your own convenience and re-experience it as many times as you choose. You will find that each time the experience is different, so don't feel that an investment in a guided meditation is a one time thing.

The programs currently available, and the new ones being produced, have a proven success record, and have enabled hundreds of people to experience an expanded view of themselves and their lives and have helped them to make significant changes in their lives.
The AssignmentCollapse )

Good Luck. If you plan on doing the assignment please have it turned in by March 13th!!! Don't forget the Series #6 heading on the post!!!!

As you are probably aware, our eZine now has positions filled, & a name (yay!)

I'm going to be handling the advice collumn in each issue. Normally, I would just go through the archives for TW & TM, & pick a question or two at random, but unfortunantly, my LJ is being strange - it has to do with the URL changes, or so LJ-support tells me. I am still not sure when this problem will be fixed, but suffice it to say, I cannot access posts that are friend's only in TW/TM.

SO, here's what I would like y'all to do for me. If you have a question you wouldn't mind answered in our first issue of the Wheel, please email me with your question at smitt3n_16@hotmail.com.

Hopefully, by the next issue, my LJ pages will be back to normal, & I'll be able to pick questions without pestering anyone =) If I get a lot of emails with questions needing advice in my inbox, I'll pick a few questions at random, & I promise that ALL QUESTIONS WILL EVENTUALLY BE ANSWERED. I'm not sure how many questions aiobhan wants answered in each issue, so I'll have to email her about that, but I promise all questions will be answered at some point & time.

In edition (something I forgot to mention in my post at teenwicca =\), please keep your questions ON TOPIC. I am only here to answer questions for The Wheel - all questions not pertaining to Paganism/relating to Paganism will not be answered in the eZine. Also, I am not here to write spells for you.

If you have a question you'd like to vent about, & it's not eZine appropriate, you can IM me@smitt3n on AIM if you'd like. I like to help people out however I can, & I'm a pretty good listener, so if you'd like to IM me, that's fine.

My LJ is still kind of on the fritz, & while I can now see pages while I am logged in, I would still rather have questions emailed to me because 1) LJ is still having periodic issues - I don't wanna miss anything by accident - & 2) I would like to make sure I am giving advise on currant questions =) I don't want my advice to be old news =X
